Re: Purchasing choices
The factory-built SLSA will likely be better than the US dealer's ELSA simply because the factory has much more experience

Re: ROTAX/Ducati Voltage Regulator Connector Issue
Ohm's Law this may not sound relevant but...for those having ducati VR issues on Rotax 20A alternator, buy a new battery with more energy storage. I used a higher capacity LiFePO4 to solve problem. when electrical system makes large demands during low output -- for example on approach when landing w...

Re: Headset Recommendations?
I've flown hundreds of hours using David Clark passive headsets. E.g., 13.4 and had no complaints. I now fly with light speed Zulu anr. Big price differential. But can't say more expensive headset made experience any better. Also, changing batteries on Zulu is a pain. Unless you expect to fly Very n...

what info provided by Mode S xpdr to ATC?
on a recent 135nm trip to Truckee airport (5900') from SF Bay Area several controllers asked what is my 'type?' my 2013 SLSA is equipped with Dynon Skyview including ADS-B and mode S i thought one thing Mode S communicated 'automatically' with ads-b was ICAO Type; also cruise speed, airplane ownersh...

Re: Tecnam P2008 turbo
discussions about higher weight LSAs usually tend to focus on the 600kg legal limit , or not being able to fill 2 seats. extra weight degrades performance. I think extra weight is a killer: it can kill you at high density situations: did you ever have a delayed start at high elevation airport and wa...

Re: Is it risky to buy a used ELSA or E-AB LSA?
IF john denver stuck to factory-built airplane he would not have crashed.
flying is risky. flying experimental is risky-er [i'm Not Saying 'Don't Fly Homebuilt' or don't take risks]

Re: Is it risky to buy a used ELSA or E-AB LSA?
The answer is...Yes, Yes, Yes, it is risky to buy/fly a (used) ELSA or E-AB. flying an aircraft that has 'experimental' written on it's side involves much more risk than flying a factory made airplane. you become a test pilot. the market factors this additional risk into the price if they were hones...

Thanks for your reply
We visited KSMO on road trip. American Flyers FBO looks like best place to tie down for LSA type @ $10/night. Both FBOs very friendly but one on north side fancier but a bit more expensive

What's the best GA airport to fly light sport into LA?
My daughter just started studies at UCLA and I'm trying to decide which airport would be the best to fly into for a weekend visit? (I'm flying in from SF Bay Area) Could be Santa Monica, Burbank, van Nuys or other. By "best" I mean simplist vfr approach, lowest cost tie down & fuel, an...

Re: Remos GX and Lithium batteries
i own a 2012 Remos GX s/n 406. in sept 2012 i replaced the factory lithium-iron-phosphate with a japanese made Li-Fe-PO4 battery. Remos told me i do not need an LOA for this exchange. I believe that Since then Remos has shipped new a/c with the same battery that i installed. i have experienced no el...

Re: Flight Design "Safety Box" & possible LSA Implications
Hi Paul. Can you describe the "ratty fuel lines"? Were these planes parked outside or hangered.? Privately owned ? In a club or school. Or sole ownership? Fire sleeved? Have you seen this often or rarely? What kind of fuel? Straight mogas or ethanol? Or avgas? How old were they? (Hours/yea...

Re: Flight Design "Safety Box" & possible LSA Implications
When I look at the CT crash photos that Andy posted it seems none of these were high impact events. The props don't look all smacked up nor is there crumple zone deformation. Even the gear is intact on most. The terrain looks flat. I would bet they were all in VMC and basically under-control emergen...

Re: Flight Design "Safety Box" & possible LSA Implications
Hi Andy : I agree w.r.t. Relatively small storage volume on Remos. There are work-arounds. I also have a bad motorcycle habit and i decided that relatively small baggage volume is one non-safety compromise I can Live with. Wish the Remos had a belly pod option like FD. Wish it had a fancy-pants WAAS...
