Re: Cost of ownership
Well I've seen ULPower engines making some great strides in the experimental market. They seem to be simpler, easier to maintain engine than the Rotax. More and more kit manufacturers are offering FWF kit for one or several ULPower engines.

Re: Cost of ownership
Well I already decided upon a Kitfox Super Sport, and as for the panel it'll have two Dynon Skyview panels and Dynon audio panel and radio. Basically it'll be 100% Dynon.

Re: Cost Of Ownership
Well my #1 reason for building an aircraft is I like working with my hands and I loved the SportAir workshop I did last January. I may do another SportAir workshop after the major holidays, learn what it takes to cover an aircraft in fabric. :D My #2 reason is that I want a customized aircraft, whic...

Cost of ownership
I wonder what the cost of Ownership would be if you were to build a kit LSA, get the repairman certificate (so you can do annuals) and basically do all the maintenance & Annuals yourselves while using car fuel instead of 100LL.

Re: ADD Meds & SP
Ehhh, I'm weary of self medication because I'm not a doctor, I think I'll talk to my doctor about this. I'll keep y'all updated.drseti wrote:NC, my ADD wife just added:

Most adhd adults self medicate with those."

Thanks for the help, I think I'll go talk to my doctor in the next few days.
I'm just tired of feeling like this, or feel like I have 500 web browser open and I'm trying to view them all at once.

ADD Meds & SP
I'm wondering if sport pilots can fly while on ADD meds. I know that ADD meds (and diagnose of ADD) would disqualify you for a third class medical, but according to Sport Pilot regs, a person would only need a Valid Driver's License to act as the medical instead of a third class medical. So I'm wond...

Two Blades vs. Three Blades
So I've seen aircrafts with the same engine (Rotax 912) and yet some of them have two blade props and others have three blade props. What is the difference between the two, and how do I decide which one to get for my Kitfox?

Re: Maybe I need to re-think what Aircraft I want?
So after thinking about it, I decided to go with a taildragger Kitfox Super Sport. The reason being is that it's relativity cheap, I can build it while being frugal with the budget, and I can use it for bush flying in the Appalachia mountains.

Re: Maybe I need to re-think what Aircraft I want?
I like the Zenith Zodiac XL. All metal, and specifically for the first time sport pilot home builder. The quickbuild kit is $16k, completed airplane is prolly around $25k? I think Sonex would be my second choice. http://zenithair.com/zodiac/xl/features1.html http://zenithair.com/zodiac/xl/xl-price....

Re: Maybe I need to re-think what Aircraft I want?
And I guess the most important part is that it's fun to fly. Ah, that's the easiest part. Any aircraft is fun to fly! :D  That is true. Looking at Kitfoxes and Murphy Air aircrafts right now. I figured out the main problem with the RV-12. It doesn't really allow you to build on a budget.

Maybe I need to re-think what Aircraft I want?
For the longest time, I've had my eyes set on the RV-12, it's a solid aircraft created by the best manufacturer of kits in the aviation industry. Unfortunately, the kit (plus the shop I'll need to build and tools that I'll need to buy) puts the RV-12 out of my price range. Well, that's not entirely ...
