Incidentally...

My boss (knowing very little about aviation rules) asked me just last week if I could fly us a short distance rather than taking the airline. I then instructed him about the sport vs. private pilot differences. His initial summary was... "so it's ultimately some extra night training and a medic...

Look at the bright side...

There are other recreational forms of transportation that could "incidentally" get you to your client's city... motorcycle, boat, bicycle, running shoes... if it is your passion you can do it! PS....If your a true pilot and want to commute....can you purchase an ultralight and use it for b...

PASSED MY CHECKRIDE!

Just passed my checkride Sat. 10/09/10 in Oshkosh WI in a Remos GX. The examiner was a great guy and I enjoyed the whole learning process at Orion Flight Services. I have my first passengers lining up for rides. To anyone who's been putting the dream off for years like I had... quit dreaming and jus...

Weather Briefing

One of my flight instructors got me to look at it this way...Use 1800wxbrief like an insurance policy... if you call for a brief and they tell you everything should be fine with the weather but the next thing you know you get your self into IMC and have to call for help, as a VFR pilot it won't be y...

To make aviation affordable for all I might suggest a good old fashioned proven business structure... hi volume and efficiency gets a better rate? Or how about rental algorithm based on your health/experience/endorsements/driving record or number of visits to an MD as a student/PIC. Kinda like your ...

I thought this is what my certificate said but my CFI told me it was 24mo because I'm over 40 but I actually have a student sport certificate. Glad I signed up for this site as I have been studying for my checkride.

LSA clubs in Oshkosh/Appleton, WI?

Looking for LSA club! I have about 30 hours in the Remos GX which by the way from my observation is being rented all the time and is a great airplane to train in (located at Orion Fight Services in Oshkosh, WI with a great bunch of people there to teach). Anyway I'm just a checkride away from my spo...

Furtherance of a business

After reading the new posts this simple thought came to me: If the flight isn't required or necessary for the purpose of business/profit then it is not furthering a business. If the flight IS required and necessary for the purpose of business/proit then it IS furthering a business. I don't think the...

Furtherance of a Business?

I rarely have any need to travel for business but I do struggle to understand this rule because FAA doesn't clearly define what they mean by "furtherance of a business" and it seems to be left open for debate. I love riding my motorcycle as much as flying. If it's a beautiful day and I hav...
