Re: Skycatcher's End
Cessna top management is now pretty much devoid of airplane people. It's now about P&L.
Some rocket scientist there decided to put all their Skylane eggs in the JT basket, killing off piston 182s.
As the CEO said the jet line is their business model.

Jack, on the FAA's numbers. It is possible that some accidently were registered under a different name, or there was a typo to make them not come up in the search. The other thing is that not all that are registered with the FAA are flying. You have to get the airplane registered ahead of the DAR i...

I would not pay too much attention to marketing VPs jumping companies, they do it all the time and carry very little technical knowledge with them. They are largely expendable despite high position in company hierarchy. In some cases, depending on how well their management style meshed with other V...

As pointed out, trailering can be time consuming. A trailer of the size needed, probably 24' and taller than standard, can be pulled by a good 1/2 ton truck. You won't really need a heavy duty truck as the trailer would be about 3500lbs and an LSA is only 1320 gross, about half of that empty. Anothe...

An important part of your logs, especially when going for a certificate or rating, is the training accomplished and logged, not just the hours in flight. From a legal standpoint, logged instruction should show a building block approach to tasks accomplished. The FAA does allow your to self certify y...

I can't speak authoritatively on the subject, but I don't believe there has been any LS accidents attributed to medical issues that would have been prevented with a class 3 medical. OTOH, accidents in general due to medical issues will be rare compared to flying into weather, running out of gas and...

Hi Alex, Are you thinking about this as you would like to be one of the renters, or that you would like to start up this biz with your own money? There is a great difference between someone just wanting to cruise around and fly cheaply, and one that expects to make a million in aviation (start with ...
