Re: TINY Sport Pilot Examiners

B) get checked out by my equally husky CFII neighbor at the field as I had never flown the airplane at gross weight before. Flying a Taylorcraft with me at 250# - I was ALWAYS flying the thing at gross!! :) (Dropped several pounds since I started. Will drop more the closer the snow melt comes. Sean

Powering a LSA all the way down to landing?

I've head the term "Flying it all the way in" or "powering it all the way in" when people are talking about flying a Light Sport Airplane. What exactly does that mean? I'm training in a Taylorcraft and I'm being taught power off/back, approach speed 60mph, line it up, steer with ...

Also Consider

Rans..... If you like the Tandem arrangement, their S-7S Empty weight is around 700 - with a gross of 1320. Useful load is 620 - subtract 500 for 2 hefty guys and that leaves you with 120 for fuel and bags. I'm looking at a Rans S-6S - SxS seating - Empty weight 696, gross 1320. I'm 5'8", 250#....

Good question. I don't know the rules off-hand. I believe the club would need to be in the form of a partnership rather than a club. Experimentals cannot be rented as far as I understand. So the way it is structured is critical. Insurance requirements are a major consideration. With 5 people or les...

Currently....

Currently I'm in a club that owns three airplanes...no, two airplanes - I am a 1/60th equity owner in the club - I bought in for a fixed price. I pay dues annually ($300) that cover hangar upkeep, insurance and fixed costs - I also pay $28/hr DRY for hourly use of the T-Craft and pay for my own fuel...

Experimantal Amateur Built in Clubs?

Is there anything prohibiting an established flying club from buying an experimental/ amateur built airplane (Like a RansS6) and sharing it within the flying club? I'm in a 60 member flying club - three total aircraft - a Cherokee for the PPL's, a tri-pacer and a T-Craft. The Tri-pacer is for sale a...

Sounds good but....

If you go to the web site, there's a "click here to email us and we'll call you back" link - there's no frequently asked questions, no details. I smell a hard sell via telephone. I guess if you're 100% committed to doing this program, you'll appreciate the sales pitch, but one video with S...

Re: I WOULD NEVER DO THIS, but ya see, I've got this friend.

If he crashes and dies can I ethically take his Bruce airplane cover or would that be bad karma? I noticed that nobody answered the most important part of the question - my Swami, Guru Forrest Gump said it best: "Stupid is as Stupid Does." Take the cover, tell the story to youngling pilot...

I Quote.......

One of my favorite quotes from a movie is from "The Core" - hokey premise, great action.......

"All this brain power over here is starting to smell like burning batteries"

Follow-up

Assuming someone else may have the same question some day.......could one of you explain what all that means.........are we talking about 12V car battery or are we talking about a light weight lantern sized lithium battery smaller than a half-gallon of milk?

Maybe a link to an example battery?

My Garmin GTX320A consumes 12 watts, which would be 1 amp at 12 volts. I don't think you'll find a cheaper or lower powered transponder. Since it draws 1 ampere, just pick a 12 volt battery with an ampere/hour rating equal to the number of hours you want it to work plus a little more to be on the s...

Encoder?

A blind encoder should be OK for a light sport application shouldn't it?
