| Does anyone know of an LSA availability in Hawaii? By that I mean aircraft, rentals, training, etc? |

I was in Hawaii, the island of Hawaii to be exact ... staying in Kona, HI and was unable to find a sport plane to rent on the entire Big Island. If you find anything please post it ...
It's hard enough to find a sport plane to rent on the mainland ... Hawaii may be just impossible. |

Just returned from a 8 days in Oahu, and by chance found an ad for Acroflight International in one of the guide books available everywhere on Oahu. I gave them a call and they have a Samba XL available now and a Stingsport coming soon. I made arrangements to fly the Samba XL which is considered an LSA motorglider. They are located at Dillingham field on the North Shore of Oahu.
I arrived at 10am and met Steve Lowry, President and CFI of AcroFlight International. Dillingham field is located right on the ocean. After a brief overview of the plane and flight controls, we were off, headed eastbound over the North Shore. The Samba was very responsive and quite easy to fly. We passed over the world famous Sunset Beach, Bonzai Pipeline and Waimea Bay. I was in awe of the scenery.
As we made our way past Turtle Bay towards the Ko'o'lau mountain range on the windward (eastern side) of Oahu, Steve switched off, the engine and killed the power system and motioned to take off the headset. We were now soaring along the mountain range! For the next 30 minutes of the flight we had no engine power. It was just incredible to be able to climb with the wind currents. The only noise was the rushing wind.

Hi, I have an Aeronca Champ on Oahu that i am going to begin offering dual in. I am a CFI, and also have a CFI Glider rating. I can instruct in either gliders or LSA powered or "regular aircraft". The Champ is LSA eligible. I can discuss with you further the options I may be able to help you with, if you are interested.
Overall, there is not as much general aviation activity in Hawaii as we would like. I have been flying there for 30 years. It is a beautiful place to fly. However you will not find several people out flying and having fun and barbequing at the end of a nice day at their hangars like you can so often find in the mainland.
As i said, Hawaii is spectacular. You can see things from a plane there you will not see anywhere else in the world. AND, the weather is awesome.
I am not sure if you are living in Hawaii, or just planning on visiting, but either way i can hook you up, with whatever you want to do.
