I am about 110 miles from you in Chester Springs and hanger my lsa sport hornet in Pottstown, PA (PTW). I am close to finishing my sport pilot ticket - I just need some good days to get some more flight time before my check ride. The training has been a journey which started in a 172. I purchase a elsa Sport hornet a few years ago - got about 20 hours in it. Moved from AR to PA a year ago. Upgraded my sport hornet to the new longer and wider Slsa Sport Hornet. I have about 10 hours on this one.
Most of the time delays have been due to a new job and move, can't wait for good weather. As the others have said may users left the site after the hacking of the sport pilot talk site, but more are coming back.

Glad you are able to get back to training. Sport Hornet looks like a nice bird. Looking at there web site, there are a lot of options for it. I was wondering about about panel. Do you intend to do cross countries, or is it more about flying around locally (both are good! just curious).
I'm finally getting to a point where I'll be doing my cross country training. I've been looking forward to this for a long time. Since I fly from an uncontrolled field, I'm trying to get get X-Plane hooked up to VATSim for some tower "experience" before actually getting into controlled airspace.

Local and x-country to answer your question. Regarding the panel it is due to the fact I am in IT and love electronics. I did add the auto pilot for mainly the altitude hold, but is nice to have an extra hand when you pull out a map, airport directory, look-up info on the panels or GPS.
I looked at many planes before purchasing the Sport Hornet. Price and the room I have was my main factors. I am 6' 4" and have plenty of room due to the tandem configuration the new width in the next generation model.
PTW is a non-tower airport, but I have most of my hours out of FSM in AR. It is a semi busy TRSA with Delta, American, Northwest commuters and a Air Guard base with lots of military traffic of all types of aircraft. |

I started my "re"-training at Chesapeake Sport Pilot last July. I found it a bit of a hassle to schedule me, my CFI and a plane all at the same time. The closing of one side of the Bay Bridge certainly didn't help.
So - I bought an Ercoupe and based it at an airport a bit closer to home - and no congested 4-mile bridge to cross.

The plane is having its Annual finished up this week. I am eager to get back in the air. I also plan to begin working on my CFI-Sport. |
