After the demise of the $40k Sport Hornet, CGS aimed to provide a $50k S-LSA entry with a version of Hawk Arrow II. They built and tested a prototype with Rotax 912. But apparently the company is collapsing.

This leaves X-Air and Aerotrek as the absolute bottom of the market at $70k apiece. |

Pete, thanks for keeping us posted on the individual LSA mfgrs. Inevitable fall-out but sad nonetheless. If Dan Johnson Inc. or LAMA wanted to provide an accurate, current view of the LSA industry, one of the things they could do is list the active LSA mfgrs along with the quarterly sales numbers.
"This leaves X-Air and Aerotrek as the absolute bottom of the market at $70k apiece."
But the folks running those two programs also point out that almost all their sales are in the $85K range, right? Fold in some sales tax and it seems as tho' the rock-bottom cost of a new (and true 'airplane like') LSA is ~$90K. Still quite a bit more than an old Piper Cub that could be flown as an LSA. |
