| I don't that Part 23 reorg would make LSAs any cheaper. Just think: how can a "positive" certification be any cheaper than consensus certification? In fact, if LSAs are pulled under the Part 23 umbrella, they will get more expensive. The only thing this change may help is a price of a new Bonanza: someone is going to pay $479,999 instead of $499,999. |

Well....not really a cheaper Bonanza, which is already certified. The goal as I understand it is to make the 'next Bonanza' less expensive to certify, but that begs the question: Who will be building the next Bonanza? And since virtually everyone here (on this forum) is looking for an a/c in a lower price bracket than the 'next Bonanza', I wonder how a manufacturer in the lower price brackets can afford to appear. A less expensive 'next Cirrus'? Maybe. But how can e.g. Cessna attempt to introduce a new Part 23 a/c, given the investment needed upfront for small potatoes sales annually.
I appreciate the sentiment represented by this initiative. But hasn't the train already left the station for 98% of the potential a/c buying public re: Part 23 a/c? |
