I don't think he was a member of this forum, but he was a long time experimental/sport pilot.
On July 2, at 10:30. Ed, who was a flying buddy of mine took of from Calhoun, GA, and crashed his Jabiru-Powered Sonex, about a mile from the runway.
Ed was 84, and still kept his medical certificate and was an avid North Carolina style "Shag-Dancer." He had flown for 60+ yrs. He flew for a while as Epps Aviation/Atlants corporate pilot.
We will miss him diving into the Cartersville airport in his Fergy II. |

Bryan,
Very sorry for the loss of your friend. Was Ed from Rome? His name sounds familiar. |

| He lived in Atlanta, but his planes were at Calhoun, and he was all over Rome, Cartersville, Cedartown, and other closeby fields. |

He was in a Sonex, and if he hasn't bought a different Sonex since I last saw him several months ago...It had a Jabiru in it.
An elderly lady who knows nothing about aviation is the only witness, and stated to investigators "its left wing tilted up and it began to fall." |
