This is exciting news! I appreciate the job the FAA has to do but as a newcomer to flying, it can be intimidating following the stream of Red tape.

| Did you check if it has a section "no person who represents or represented The State of Oklahoma in U.S. Senate may be responsible for any FAR violations committed while operating an aircraft"? All this Bill of Rights is Inholfe being furious about being held to account for his misdeeds. Although I do not mind the reasons if the outcome is good, it remains to be seen if it is good. |

Of all the virtues of the shark, foremost is its precociousness in the field of adelphophagy. Indeed, its eagerness for fraternal flesh is second in the world of nature only to that species known as the General Aviation Pilot.
Not condoning, nor condemning, but our willingness to throw each other under any convenient train only harms us in the long run. |

Zaitcev, exactly...
For those who would like to read a bit about Senator Inhofe's lack of piloting skills over the years, and a bit of the FAA ripple effect he has had to contend with, you could read this short thread:
http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=74038
As one poster in the above thread stated: "I can visualize the moment of inspiration. He's sitting there talking to the FAA for the umpteenth time and a little light bulb suddenly appears over his head. "Hey, I just had a great idea for a new bill...""
For those who think the 'self-policing' of flying behaviors among ourselves is somehow 'eating our own' - and for those who'd just like to read a very seasoned perspective on flight safety - I'd encourage you to visit Facebook and read the continuing series that Richard Vangrunsven ('Van' of Vans Aircraft) has been writing on 'pilot culture' and the need to reduce GA and specifically A-B accidents by changing the pilot culture. Each of these is a sobering, reflective piece that every GA pilot would benefit from. Here's the most recent:
