I realize I have missed the SP expo which was earlier this year. Do you guys know if there is going to be another one this year or maybe next?
Also, are there any national or international GA conferences you would recommend attending as a newbie?
Thanks!! |

| The last couple of years there has been an LSA expo in Mt. Vernon, Ill. in Sept. Google didn't reveal if there will be one this year. |

I'm going to visit Rocky Mountain expo in 4 weeks, but it is a first time show and is likely to be small.

rsteele - I'm a member of the group that is working on putting on the very first annual Rocky Mountain Light Sport Expo just outside of Denver Colorado (Watkins) on May 14th of this year. We are planning a full day of speakers and have quite a few LSA's signed up to show at the event.
For more information you can check out our website at www.rmlsaexpo.com.

My pleasure, Brian, and thanks for the kind words. If anyone has knowledge of any events I should be adding to my calendar, please do advise. |

| You know, I'm honestly surprised there's not more GA/LSA related stuff in North Carolina, I mean it's the birthplace of powered flight, so you'd think my state would at least get one Expo or something. |

| What if they have another storm? 20+ dead, it's even better than one at SnF. |

If you do, I'm sure you'll buy each of us a new airplane. You're that kinda guy... but I'm not holding my breath! |

"I realize I have missed the SP expo which was earlier this year. Do you guys know if there is going to be another one this year or maybe next?"
The owner of the Sebring LSA Expo claimed that their 2011 attendance was the biggest yet (tho' it sure wasn't apparent on the Saturday I was there) so, based on that, you should have another shot at Sebring in 2012.
Meanwhile, I'd encourage you to 'create' a few GA shows in your own area. Check out your local EAA chapter's events and look into attending the next Pancake Breakfast or Young Eagles event they host. You'll find pilots, planes and lots of aviation enthusiasm. Check the AOPA website, in addition to Paul's event calendar, and better yet sign up for their eNewsletter which gives a weekly review on all the national events (near end of lengthy newsletter) and an overview of GA news. (You are a member of EAA and AOPA, right? If not, your missing two relevant pipelines of info on all things GA/LSA/pilot related).
Good luck on your search. |

Do you have a URL with that claim? Everything I saw quoted Bob Woods saying ahead of show that the attendance "would likely to be the best ever", as part of his showman's hype obviously. But later it turned out that all metrics continued to slide slowly, just as 2010 was a shade down on 2009.

Bob Woods himself made no comment that I'm aware of. |
