I will have one day at Sun 'n Fun, Thurs Mar 31. I will definitely make the rounds of the LSA exhibits. What else should I make a point of seeing and doing?

Last year was my first time at SNF and I only had a few hours on a poor weather day. Being new to aviation I didn't know I needed more time and a plan to make the most of my time! I hope to do better this year.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Well, there's surely much to see.

Here's one suggestion, for those of you planning to attend SnF between 3/31 and 4/3. When out on the display apron, look for the Navy SH-60B on display, introduce yourself to the tall, lanky LCDR with the 'Tyler' name tag, and tell him your a pilot who would love an upfront & personal introduction to his 'front office'. Dev would love to meet those of you interested in general aviation as that's where he started flying - washing planes for flight time - when he was 13. Now he gets paid by Uncle Sam to fly both horizontal and vertical.

That is definitely cool. I was hoping to make SNF this year, but it isnt looking good. Maybe Oshkosh...keeping my fingers crossed.

For those of you who didn't get the latest ePilot email from AOPA, here's another thing you can squeeze into your day...

Experience flight at the AOPA Learn to Fly Center

“For someone who is dreaming of learning to fly or already in flight training, the Learn to Fly Center is here to help,” said Jennifer Storm, AOPA director of flight training initiatives. “AOPA staff members will be available to answer prospective pilots’ questions and help them try their hand at the controls of a full-motion flight simulator thanks to Redbird Flight Simulations’ generous support.”

While there, prospective student pilots can learn more about AOPA’s Let’s Go Flying program and current student pilots can take a closer look at Flight Training magazine.

Let’s Go Flying is geared to anyone who is interested in learning to fly but is not yet ready to begin lessons. The website offers a wealth of information and inspiration and even provides a searchable database of flight schools across the country (just enter a zip code to find nearby flight schools that offer introductory flights). A free monthly electronic newsletter is designed to help prospective students become more familiar with aviation before they begin flight training.

Those already in flight training can enroll in a free six-month AOPA membership, complete with members-only website access and six issues of Flight Training—the only magazine dedicated to supporting student pilots. The Flight Training website’s student section is broken into the major segments of learning to fly: Pre-Solo; Maneuvers; Cross-Country (actually going places!); and Flight Test Preparation. Each section answers frequently asked questions, describes the flying skills students learn during that phase of training, and links to relevant online courses from the AOPA Foundation’s Air Safety Institute.

We just drove up from Miami for Sun n Fun and checked into the hotel.

The weather here is abysmal! Driving rain and thunderstorms are forecast to continue for the next two days.

We travelled all the way from the Middle East for this! At least we drove here and made it. I can't think that many of the aircraft will make it here, particularly those VFR only.

Ahh...but Ham, for you the good news is that the LSA vendors all pull trailers to that event. Just think: No crowds, lots to oogle and everyone begging for your money. <s>

Good luck on the wx. The folks over at the RV Forum are (ahem...) 'predicting' it will get better. Of course, 50% better than abysmal ain't great.

Don't forget to give us a PIREP after the dust (or mud) settles...

I'm headed down on Thursday from Ohio. Rain or not the weather has to be better than what we've been having this winter. Looks like it's supposed to clear up just after I get there :D

We got lucky with the weather! Beautiful first day at Sun n Fun.

After clambering all over the various LSAs and asking a million questions, I'm even more convinced that the Aerotrek A240 is the way to go for me.
