Another learning experience--as I was admiring my ability to hold the centerline as I approached rotation speed today, my CFI said something that I first took to be 'full power'. When he repeated himself I realized, as I noticed the flashing red light on the panel, that he actually said 'pull power'.
The fuel pressure was very low. This did not happen in runup but now, at full throttle, the pressure dropped.
I pulled power, notified the tower of the aborted takeoff and pulled off at the taxiway. Done for the day.
What did I learn? I need to improve my multi-tasking. Without the CFI I probably would have taken off, noticed the warning light on climb-out and had a heart attack. |

Developing clear communication skills between student and instructor is tricky, but important. I once told a student, "takeoff power." So, he did. (took off power!) |
