Hi All,

A friend of mine just turned his Spot on in Corning, CA. and will be headed home to Bisbee, AZ. You can click on his Spot link. (Coppercity Aviation) and watch his progress across CA and AZ. He is getting a late start due to fog. If you leave the Spot link open it will automatically update on it's own as he cruises.

They do look like a neat thing to have on trips. I went to their site and what is not clear to me is, can you make your trip private so only those you want to access the Spot site can see your track. Is athere a logon or password for viewers?

Yes you can make your Spot Tracker private so only people that have the link can see you. You can make a couple of private messages to send to them on email or on the phone as a text. We just have them marked "public". All a friend needs is your link which you can email to them or anyone else. No password needed. Most of us use them on a daily basis so our family and friends know where we are, if we have a problem and where to look if it turns ugly. They are good not only for flying, but if you motorcycle ride, quad ride, hike, hunt or boat. I don't always tell my wife where I'm going so all she needs to do is look at the computer and she knows exactly where I am or if I'm on the ground somewhere.

I can see ALL KINDS of positive applications for this. I'm sure it can be turned on from a remote phone call??

don't forget the flight tracker site.

If you talk to ATC and have radar coverage and flight following in our area it will follow you.

free. Type N number under private flight tracker.

We use the spidertracks spot locator for the infrared deer counting flights. It's accurate where radar coverage is spotty.
