Apple has finally released the OS 4.2 for the Iphone and Ipad. The Ipad now has the ability to multitask apps along with a few other nice features.
http://www.apple.com/ios/
They also made the Find My Iphone App free with the latest update.
I also found a really nice timer and logbook app for the Iphone and Ipad. The logbook app is MyFlightBook and you can check it out at myflightbook.com and the timer app allows you to create and name different timers and control the start and stop independently or all at once.
Check out Chronolilte for the timer. |

ArionAv8or,
How do you like your electronic logbook? I'm thinking of taking the plunge but have one concern/question -- how do you handle physical sign-offs? Basically, how does one document a BFR (or additional ratings)? |

ArionAv8bor,
I'm using a product called myflightbook which has an iPhone/iPad and a Web page for entering in flight time. Under My Profile and the "Students, instructors, and endorsements" section, there is an area where you can scan in and upload your endorsements from your log book. Additionally, if your flight instructor has an account there, he can electronically endorse you that way as well.
I would however recommend having a physical sign off and then scan them in. That provides you with a backup of your log book and have the endorsements in an easily accessible location. The website and apps are free of charge at this time, so who knows how long the site will be up and operational, so it is good to have a local hard copy backup of everything. :)

| So do you print off the current page and have the CFI make an entry then scan it back in? Or is there a form for the various endorsements that you print out and scan in? |

| I personally just used my written logbook for all of my training and then scanned the endorsements in. This was done before I ran into the website, so at that point in time I just uploaded them to the website. Call me a little paranoid, but I like to have multiple copies of the important stuff - and in the digital world it's very easy to do. |

That is the same app I use Brian and I absolutely love it. You can even upload pictures from a flight and make that entry public for other members to view. I also do the same thing as you with making copies of my logbook. One can never be too careful or redundant. |
