| What rpms and airspeeds are you guys using for slow flight and steep turns? I think I will be turned loose in it tomorrow. Moving from plane to plane is slowing up the process but I guess it is what it is. At least I'm flying. :D |

| Ground reference maneuvers around 3500 rpm and 75 knots, flaps 0. Steep turns about 3800 rpm, flaps -6, 80 knots, slow flight, 38 knots flaps 30 and 42 knots flaps 40, rpm as needed. |

Thank you sir, the weather looks to be fantastic today.
I have followed your post's on other forums and recall you sharing some frustrations. At times between scheduling conflicts and such I feel that this ain't ever going to happen. I've got five hours solo and the dual cross country done but that instructor moved on now I guess I have to do at least a short dual after I solo another plane. I don't see any clear plan to get me done but I WILL have a plan in place by next week or I'll be looking at my options. :) |

| Va for the CTLS is 98 knots. I like to do steep turns and ground reference maneuvers at near Va. To achieve this it will take about 4700 RPM for the LS, and 4500 for the SW. The reason for my speed choice is because stall speed goes up as bank angle increases and using a slower speed leaves less margin for error. Also at Va you can't hurt the airplane with any control imputs. For slow flight your altitude is a constant, your desired airspeed is a constant, so your RPM has to vary to achieve your goal. It will depend on flap setting, desired speed, and weight of the aircraft. 3500-3800 would be a good starting point and adjust from there. Tom |

Thanks for the replies. I'm signed off to solo after this morning. I'm actually starting to enjoy the ctls, I was afraid I'd never find that comfort zone landing but after 8 this am, 4 in a pretty stiff crosswind the confidence is almost where it should be.
I've not been Flight Designs biggest fan but I guess I'll eat a little crow. It is a alot of fun. :lol: |

| i agree with 3D, manuevers at 98kts feel right and have lots of margin for both stall and stressing the airframe. |
