All --

I recently got my SP License. Since they got rid of the aircraft "sets" it seems that the only requirement to fly a particular make/model of aircraft is to have the proper Vh endorsement.

So my question is, have I missed something? Is there any formal training that is required to transition from one plane with a Vh of >87 to another since I have that endorsement?

The way I understand the regs, no, except you do need training and endorsements for taildragger, ski's, floats etc. However, the insurance company may have other ideas.

Most insurance companies will want you to complete transition training. When I purchased my Lightning the insurance company required 3 hours transition training with a CFI (or CFIS) that was checked out on the aircraft. Most places will also require a check out with a CFI if you are wishing to rent a plane different that the one you regularly fly. Everyone wants to ensure they have CYA in place.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have the AOPA non-owners policy. What is the language that I should look for to find this info in my policy? (I skimmed it last night but did not see anything -- tho that does not mean it isnt there!)

I'd make sure first of all it covers LSA's. I know that back when I was looking at non-owned insurance, that certain policies wouldn't cover LSA's, as they didn't have a standard airworthiness certificate. Kind of a BS reason, IMO, but that's how one of them was.

Yes -- it does cover LSA. I definitely checked for that before I bought it as I had seen some that did not. AOPA's now does.
