This is somewhat of a philosophical/theoretical question, but what's the advantage of a PPC with Glider Rating vs a SPC with Glider Privileges?
Given that many (most) gliders meet the seat/weight requirements for LSA, and you don't need a medical to fly a glider in any case, why spend the extra 20+ hours for the Private?
That being said, it seems like none of the soaring schools I've found looking around online offer a Sport Pilot rating, with one I found being openly hostile to the idea (believing that Sport Pilots were "less safe").
At some point in my flying career, whatever path it takes me, I'd like to add gliders to my repertoire, so I find this an interesting question... |
