Will AOPA and the EAA have what it takes to allow grounded pilots to fly again just for fun? DOT and FAA will be at AirVenture 2010 listening to our quest so let's not let it pass by!

seems unfair not to grandfather(no pun)older pilots who have been denied a medical before they changed the rules would be better to phase in the rule so pilots could change over without penalty.

My denied medical was in 1978. It is ridiculous that the SP/LSA ruling has this unfair clause to ground pilots for a denied medical in their distant past! Certificated pilots stay on the ground while new pilots take advantage of the SP/LSA ruling with a valid driver's license and the proper training.

Pilot Gary; May we ask what the medical condition was that resulted in no medical. Since 1978 there has been many changes to the disqualification's and your condition may not apply now or there may be waivers available.

Jeff is correct.For instance in 1978 you could not get a medical if you used oral hypoglycemics to control diabetes. You may be able to go the special issuance route (expensive) then let that simply lapse and then use SP rules.
