| Has anyone heard if Cessna has a recommended rental rate for the Skycatcher? From what I have read I think they are setting up a program similar to the old 150 training material. But modern, my 150 program is on two roll film strip. |

| Not that I have any hard data, but I'd guess FBO's will rent the SkyCatcher somewhere between $90-125/hr, depending on your location within the country. Most will probably be over $100/hr. Look around at all the other LSA's in your area (if there are any), and judge from that. FBO's will probably think that the Cessna name commands a premium, and will charge a little more. |

I just ran across an old file with the receipts from my flight training:
In 1970, a brand new 150 rented for $15.00/hr wet, and the instructor was $8.00 per hour!
My total cost to Private was $918.46 |

Cessna doesn't recommend rental rates to their CPCs.
They just recommend that they buy more airplanes, using the "cashflow" propaganda. :D
I would also expect $90-$100/wet, depending on how the insurance companies rate the little airplane. |

I did several months of serious market research before launching my flight school. It is my opinion that the threshold of pain in most of the US for LSA training is $100/hr. Everybody's operating expenses are pretty much the same. Therefore, I decided to set my rental rate at $99/hr, with the standard 10% prepaid block discount. If CPCs price themselves any higher than that, I doubt that they will stay in business. To make it work, they have to stay competitive. |

I was curious if the CPC's had to have a standard rate or if they were free to set their own.
It will be interesting to see if the base the rates on expecting to sell the airplane before it gets a lot of time on it. |
