Curious if any one has used the AeroShell Oil Sport PLUS 4? I use mostly Avgas 100LL 75% of the time.
Your thoughts? |

David,
That is good oil. Other recommendation would be AV-9 oil from California Power Systems. Both were specially formulated for the Rotax 91X series engines. |

I have been using a full synthetic oil in my Rotax engine, which is not recommended when using 100LL. 99% of the fuel I have been using is mogas.
However, I am now going to change to the AeroShell Sport Plus 4 10w40. The Kitfox factory recommends this oil for those using 100LL as well as those using mogas. I use mogas at my home airport, but when traveling use 100LL. They (Kitfox Aircraft) sell it for $8/liter.
What about oil filters? I have been using a NAPA filter. |

I just finished filming with the industry experts Phil Lockwood and Dean Vogel for the ROTAX 912 DVD.
The best oil which is approved by ROTAX is the new Aeroshell for AVGAS.
Go to www.rotax-aircraft-engines.com and find service instruction 912-SI 016. This lists the ROTAX approved oils. Others will cause problems.
Also use the ROTAX oil filter. Others will have bypass ratio pressures not for the rotax engine.
Fly safe,
