Sorry for the delay; its been a long process but our light weight quad suction mounts are done:

We have tested them with over 50lbs and the hold strong but we reccomend no more then 1.5lbs to avoid vibration.

I've been using two cameras - both are SD video cameras....
1. Sanyo Xacti - I have an older standard definition model, but it's waterproof and pretty bombproof. Takes good still pix too.
2. Panasonic HD webcam - I picked it up at Big Lot's for $200 a couple of months ago and it takes amazing HD video, and it has a mic in port (which I'm going to test today) so you can hook up your headset to it. The video is amazing, even when uploaded to the web....check out some of my Vimeo content (be sure to click the HD button) from my blog...

awesome. i will check that out. Roy's company has sent me a mount that i just did a test on. mounted in a Tecnam Sierra. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcWyAxooyfg
there was 25 mph winds and 15mph cross winds. ONE HE!! of a ride. the airplane performed GREAT as well as the mount. |

Nice swivel-cam action on the takeoff... :D
A 20 mph wind I call early morning. Hell, I was flying into a 40 mph headwind yesterday at 10AM at 5500 ft.! |

| im telling ya.. i have to fly a 165 nm leg this mornin.. winds were the same as yesterday... COULD NOT track a straight line to save my life .. lol.. finally i got about 8500 and it smoothed out. but i picked up another 10knot head wind.. go figure... |

No matter what the camera, glare and vibration can easily spoil the video. So can weird sync problems associated with the prop and the shutter on the camera. If possible, test to see what the prop looks like before committing to buy. I've found that my best videos have been done with a lipstick cam and a solid-state recorder. But recent vids taken with a STILL camera (canon SD1100 is) have been great. It is small, light-weight, can be mounted or hand-held.
I'm experimenting with a suction-cup mount (panavise), but its been producing jumpy videos.
I really want to try one of the self-contained units (like Tachyon), mounted on the tie-down spot... looking at the nose or maybe across the tail!

The prop issue is related to the shutter speed. With auto shutter bullet cams and camcorders it will change only with light conditions. There is not a certain camcorder that you can buy that would eliminate it every time unless it has this adjustment. We can supply bullet cameras which have the adjustment but most people feel uncomfortable with a $5000 video system.
