Flew a Buckeye chute this evening. First the Divet the skydiver jumped out from 4500ft. It took the chute the same time to go to 4.5 altitude and back as the 182 climbing to 10,000 ft and down with 4 jumpers.
She just climbed the frame and took a swan dive off the side.
Tim flew back down and I got my turn to go for a ride.
It was smoother than I expected. The blue head 582 had a 3 blade IVO and a flat bed mount with 8 rubber dampers.
takeoff was controlled and smooth. No problems with chute inflation.
The chute was high and well out of view so there was not any obstructions. There are two diagonal bars so I did not have any falling out feeling.
chased some deer from the fields. Saw a nice buck. Flew around town and had a good time. Took a leisurely trip around the standard fixed wing pattern and landed.
Overall it was lots of fun. The chute rigging is a little vague to me yet but the general flying and control concept is very easy and safe.
Conditions were perfect, it would be interesting in a gusty wind.
This was an older 2000 machine. I really liked the seating arrangement with back seat much higher than the front. simple construction and overbuilt parts.
Need to fly a Trike next. |

Thank you for sharing your flight details with us. I would love to read more about powered chutes and trikes on this board.
I hope you get to fly a trike soon. I have flown trikes several times and would love to own one, especially since I now live in the flatlands and don't have anywhere to launch my hang glider.
Good flying in whatever craft you use. |
